hello it has been a hot minute since i last posted whoops!

the last couple of weeks leading up to the school holidays were incredibly stressful with assessments for all of my subjects. unfortunately i didn't do very well on most of them but i think that was because my time management was very poor and i left a lot of things to the last minute. for chem i was basically studying all the content from the term the night before. i don't think it went particularly well but i'll find out next term along with the results of some of my other subjects. i'm hoping i can improve on this next term : ) !

anyways, i'm wondering if it is still possible for me to get a raw 50 in physics despite getting low 90s in my sac? i imagine probably not, but if i manage to ace the final exam at the end of the year would it still be possible? any ideas would be appreciated thanks!

hope everyone has a good break šŸ™‚

So yesterday I actually received my score for the first ever sac that will contribute to my ATAR. It was for biology and I'm so glad thats over.

I actually am disappointed with my score (91%), and I honestly thought I did better šŸ˜ Its okay... like its not that bad but after hearing the scores from other classes now I don't feel that okay about my score (Ik 2 people got 100% šŸ˜ like how??)
But yk what, I just have to learn how to let go and move on.
I think I scored around the top area in my class (an average of around 80%? and the highest ik in my class is 92% I think...) but ik in other classes many got pretty high scores, as in 95%+)
idk how much this will effect my ATAR (ik not a lot but still worries me a bit)
ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD, I need to keep remembering that.
Luckily after a month of grinding for sacs, I am somewhat free (for maybe a few days) with term one ending soon.

        Tasks to do include:

        • Doing my psychology summary book for todays chapter I went through
        • Finish off math hw šŸ«”
        • Biology reviewing and stuff šŸ˜
        • Updates for this week: made mocktails/coffee's in hospitality which was pretty fun.
psychology has started working on operant and classical conditioning (coincidentally the topic of my HES lectures this week) and I've had my first tutorial which was pretty relaxed and everyone else seemed nice but I didn't talk much because we were online. Still waiting on my psych SAC results but it'll probably be some stage next week/the week after.
Business management has been relaxed as well (just starting motivational theories).
English is english, don't enjoy it much but I can do it. Just waiting for my prac sac results which we apparently get next week.
          Hope everyone is going well

        • boutta start this lit close analysis that i have been SERIOUSLY procrastinating. will send updates x

sidenote its a close analysis practise and its literally the worst thing every ahhhh

        • ok so I have seen a few people on here doing journals/blogs of their year 12 study and life so I figured I was going to do this as well hopefully to try and stay productive lol

I've just started year 12 (in my 3rd week of the year already wtf) and it is stressfulllll.

          My subjects are:

          • English Literature - I genuinely love this subject and reckon that this is honestly easier than English ATAR lol. I just hate writing essays cos my brain does not like focusing ugh.
          • Mathematics Applications - I did Methods in Year 11 and it was the worst thing ever. Apps is sm nicer ahh. Honestly one of my favourite subjects atm it makes sm sense and I am PRAYING that my grades will be higher than Methods last year
          • Human Bio - my teacher last year was horrendous and I finished the year with a 50% grade but I am hoping that this year with my new teacher (who is an absolute legend btw) I can do way better
          • Chemistry - I hate it it makes me want to die literally the worst thing ever
          • Italian - our class is not as fun as last year and it makes me so sad but yolo. not horrible, makes me feel smart cos i can kinda speak it, still hurts my brain though.

Ok so basically I struggle SO BAD with procrastination it actually sucks. like not even sitting on my phone just getting too tired and going to bed cos I cant focus and THEN sitting on my phone. And I feel like I am constantly exhausted even though I get 8 hours of sleep so fun times but not really. Anyways I'm probs gonna use this as a procrastination/also help me stay focused and accountable thing.

Tonight I have to write an entireeee close analysis essay for Lit which sucks. Would've done it on the weekend but I had my ball soooo....

I'm also going to try and start too actually revise my content every night so I don't get overwhelmed for tests. If anyone has any study tips/sleep tips/ time management/ survival tips for year 12 I will literally love you forever šŸ˜
Hopefully I can come on here often so I can keep myself accountable but we will see. Also if anyone has any just like get your life together tips I would love to hear them. I feel like I'm so old now but lowkey do not feel as if I have my life together at all.

Anywayyyssssss if people see this I hope you are doing AMAZING with school this year. Wishing you all the best with your studies x

        • POST 5 - 03/02/24

hI! i figured that since i woke up early for no good reason, and that i havenā€™t updated here for a while, that this is the perfect opportunity to do just that. iā€™m more of a morning person, but i donā€™t feel like doing work this morning.

not gonna lie, year 12 surprised me a tiny bit. the workload is a bit intense, and the homework is absurd, but i feel like that is the whole challenge of this year. it has also serves as a bit of a wake up call. i got an english response graded from my orientation last year and i got 44% - which i found quite shocking because iā€™ve gone from Aā€™s to Eā€™s. the teacher i had for orientation marks twice as hard as the vcaa examiners, so iā€™m not really stressed because the teacher i have this year is so sweet and is giving me extra help because she could tell i was devastated.

general maths and business management are just a breeze at this point, so iā€™m not stressing too hard. but my general teacher has already starting giving out practice exams for the first AOS and im actually quite confident if i get on top of my stupid mistakes, i have the possibility to get a 40+ for general. i refuse to get any lower than a 40+ for business management, because itā€™s incredibly easy.

psychology is also going well. i thought i did really bad on the nervous system functioning test i did during orientation, but i got a 72%, which i can deal with. i have a new teacher, and she is really really good. sheā€™s the kind of teacher who tells us to watch edrolo videos before class, which i find really motivating because i can add to notes in class but iā€™m not fretting to jot every single word down.

and then there is extended investigationā€¦
EI is just a living hell right now. my topic has hit a dead end and my teachers are trying their best to not discourage me because i was literally freaking out during our meeting on thursday. i just need to read a bunch more literature (not so fun) to see gaps. i still want to work with insomnia, but test something that isnā€™t known about the issue because at the end of the day, thatā€™s what EI is about.

i feel thatā€™s my biggest problem with every subject. i worry over the littlest of things and it turns out fine, but i donā€™t want to get so ahead of the curve that the curve becomes a sphere. because at the end of the day, i donā€™t want to be overly cocky and optimistic about year 12, because it is year 12 T-T.

anywho, next week we are going on study camp, which seems super lame, but i shouldnā€™t really judge because it has yet to happen. we are doing sport (ew), dancing (i lack skills), respectful relationships (iā€™m gonna be single forever tf) and we are going to watch a movie at hoyts, which lets be honest, iā€™m thrilled about. i looked at the times and i literally have my money on us watching mean girls, which would be hilarious.

iā€™ve also been obsessed with ted (that foul-mouthed teddy bear). there was a new series that came out and not gonna lie it was really good, and i thought it was going to flop. one thing i think you probably are getting from this post is that i am extremely judgemental, and i am, about everything other than humans. because i wouldnā€™t want anyone judging me, but i doubt a weed-smoking teddy bear from a tv show would care.

thatā€™s all i guess, i gotta get myself motivated because i donā€™t have time during the week to do work because of camp. if anyone has ideas about stuff to research for EI, please please pleaseeeee help me out.

iā€™ll try keeping these updates weekly if i have time throughout the year.

          until next time!!

        • g4rl1cg1rl wow, you have done so much EI work. to be honest, i am definitely way more intrigued with your research topic than my own, considering iā€™ve done absolutely NOTHING since mid-december (?). this sorta reminded me i better get going with my own EI work, which has made no progress as i mentioned.

youā€™re topic really interests me on the basis of china being really conservative, dare i say communistic, where queer ideology is a really thorny topic because it goes against many of those citizens beliefs. but in saying that, i just spent 10 minutes on google and found ancient colonisations, like you mentioned, that were quite queer - i even learnt that homosexuality was banned for a 20 year period (yikes). factors like a severe way to disrespect your family in china is by not having children can be another contributing factor. i donā€™t wanna sound teacher-y but youā€™ve really developed an intricate topic and as i said, i am definitely more interested in yours.

if you ever want to send through your work for me to proof-read or get an opinion, iā€™m more than happy to peer review in my procrastinating hours T-T. canā€™t wait to hear about your EI journey this year!

          Try:

          • Austin Health
          • Dandenong Veterinary
          • Hospital Work Experience
          • DPV Health Work Experience
          • Future Doctors Australia Work Experience Program (Really good one)
          • Northern Health (I'm not sure if they still do it after Covid)
          • Royal Melbourne Hospital work experience
          • Royal Women's Hospital work experience

These were the ones I could find. Hope it helps šŸ™‚

          • hello all (sorry if this isnā€™t specifically related to VCE/ATAR stuff)
I am going into year 10 in 2024, and our school requires us to do work experience. Personally, I am very interested in the medical field, and would like to do work experience at a local hospital or clinic of sorts. However, I am not really sure how to go about finding places that are actually open to year 10 work experience (so far - most hospitals donā€™t have very many specific details or donā€™t allow work experience from students my age) so I would appreciate any suggestions of where to apply and/or some guidance regarding how to find these positions.

So far, the one place I know for certain accepts year 10 work experience is Monash Health, which I will be applying for, but obviously as it will be quite competitive I would like some backups, and also it seems as though the locations/options are quite limited.

Anyways, thank you for reading - any sort of help regarding this would be much appreciated šŸ™‚

            • Hello lovely people, holidays has been pretty boring so thought ill start a journaling page based on my journey through uni, some ups and downs of it, and reviewing the subjects ill be taking.

Course: Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Creative Leadership
              Uni: Western Sydney Uni
              Year: Second Year (2024)

As time goes on I will be writing down my progress and hopefully shed light on past subjects i have taken and how they run. Just know that my subject or course rating may not totally reflect off the entire outlook of whether the course is good or entirely bad šŸ™‚. Everything in this journal is entirely in my opinion. I aim not to discourage future students on taking the course if my ratings may be bad. šŸ™‚. Anyway, have a fun time reading and hopefully this three year degree wouldnā€™t have me looking like the botched up version of spongebob by the time i graduate. If anyone has any questions or even is doing the same course and would like to ask or shed light please do sošŸ™‚. Until thenā€¦ā€¦

            • Chibby

Thats great! I think you have a really good chance, but I wonder what they look for when selecting students?

              • Chibby

Honestly, try out for inter-school debating competitions, even little ones. Talk to your debating teacher and let them know that you are interested. I did lots of DAV debates, made it to finals, and thus made it to the inter-state team. As for practice, learn how to write a debate under timed conditions. Also, practice for secret topics. This will not only prepare you for the actual debates, but it will be a great way of showing your capabilities and skills to get onto the team.

Is there a specific criteria for you to get onto the team?

                • Chibby

It was an incredibly memorable experience. Our school provided us with free tickets and covered all our expenses for accommodation and meals. We participated in debating and public speaking competitions and secured second position in debating and first in public speaking. We also got the opportunity to create numerous fond memories with our team while sightseeing and staying up all night for three days šŸ˜…

                  • I do debating and I usually take part in competitions held by DAV

                  • i have so many conflicting music tastes. i love conan gray and taylor swift, but also love rock (paramore, mcr, pierce the veil) and k-pop (enhypen, bts, newjeans, skz), bedroom pop (wave to earth, laufey, beabadoobee) and some really old artists (the cranberries, the smiths). also the 1975ā€¦ but they get their own category LMAO.

                    • I honestly don't have much taste in specific artists and songs, but I usually tend to gravitate towards Vocaloid, Touhou Project, Lofi and alot of video game OSTs!
